Class Descriptions:

Ashtanga Vinyasa:

Rhianna uses the Ashtanga Yoga System as a Guide, modifying the practice and sequencing when appropriate; incorporating creative and progressive sequencing, integrating breath and movement, alignment and awareness, flexibility and strength to foster a safe movement practice that encourages a gradual evolution.

Ashtanga Yoga as it is practiced today was systematized by Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India.

The practice increases internal heat and circulation; purifying the body and mind through the vehicle of the breath and vigorous practice. The series fosters core strength, balance, flexibility and breath awareness.

Vinyasa means synchronizing movement with the breath and sequencing a series of postures or movements with intention.

Ashtanga Flow :

This class is devoted to the spirit of creative and progressive sequencing integrating breath and movement, alignment and awareness, flexibility and strength. It is meditative, rejuvenating and challenging; empowering a transformative personal exploration.

Hatha:

The word Hatha is a compound of the words Ha and Tha meaning sun and moon. This class focuses on positive intention and breath, moves at a slower pace and holding postures with the intention of finding physical and emotional balance.

This system of yoga was introduced by Yogi Swatmarama, a sage of 15th century India, and compiler of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. In this treatise Swatmarama introduces Hatha Yoga as a preparatory stage of physical purification that renders the body fit for the practice of higher meditation.
